If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me "so who's taking your wedding pictures" I would be a millionaire! I thought it was time you all met the woman who will be behind the camera during our big day. Many thanks to Alex for taking the time to answer all my questions. We have 5 days people! Hope to see you all there! And remember follow the directions not your GPS!
1. Tell everyone a little about yourself.
Hi everyone! My name is Alex, and I'm a photographer based out of East Texas. I'm originally from New Orleans, but I moved to Texas to date and eventually marry my husband Josh. When I'm not shooting I am a barista at the coffee shop Josh runs. It is really, really nice to have access to a constant flow of caffeine! I am literally addicted to traveling, and I do quite a bit of it. I can't help myself. I pretty much love getting my hands dirty with anything creative. I won't go into too many onion layers of myself, so if you want to know more reach out! I love making new friends and finding common ground with each person.
2. How did you get involved in photography?
I actually got involved with photography through travel! I went on a west coast road trip for 2 weeks with two photographers. I was so enamored with everything they were doing and I asked if I could try it out. The moment I got that camera in my hands it just felt right. I had to save up for a while to get my gear, but once I got my camera I slowly started to build my business. It's been a little under a year, and it is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
3. What genre of Photography do you enjoy shooting the most?
Honestly I loved doing styled shoots and portraiture. Each session is so unique and I feel like I get to use every facet of my creativity when I shoot and style. I still feel like I'm learning so much and that pushes my to try harder and to gain a better grasp on my style!
4. What influences you the most?
I hate saying this, but I get most inspiration from looking on Instagram at other photographers. I say I hate it because it seems the obvious route, but I get to see a ton of people doing different things each day through a different lens. It really keeps me pushing to see, experience, and try new things.
5. Name a photographer that you look up to and why?
Benji Haisch and Ben Sasso are tied for that spot. I just can't get over their composition and editing style. They're truly so good at what they do. Ben Sasso, specifically, is so awesome in that he is passionate about education. I've learned so much from his resources. It's so hard when you're starting out and you don't know what you're doing, so to have access to that information is vital.
6. What are 3 things that you always have in your possession?
I rarely have 3 things in my possession if I'm being totally honest. I hate carrying my purse and I leave my phone everywhere, on silent, and for long periods of time. Josh really hates that! Haha!
7. If you could have dinner with 3 people (living or dead) who would they be and why?
Celine Dion- How can words describe how much I love this woman? All my friends think I'm weird, but I just think she is one of the best singers of all time. I would love to have dinner and then maybe a voice lesson, although I think I would sound like a dying frog next to her.
Junko Tabei- She was the first woman to summit Mt. Everest. I am really into back country backpacking, so I would just love to sit and hear her stories. I'd also like to ask her how it feels to be a total boss.
Kristin Wiig- Just so I could cry laughing for an extended period of time. I think she is the funniest of all actresses.
The following photos are samples of her work.
