Got to have coffee with this guy last week. We've been friends for about 4 years now? or 5? I'm not completely positive.
Anyways...as most friends do, when they haven't seen each other in a few months, we caught up on each others lives. We discussed college and life and blogging. Yes BLOGGING! Since I'm not the greatest at keeping mine up to date I had tons of information for him. NOT!
We did decide that he needed to fill the world with his thoughts. Lets face it he's got a billion and one and you need to hear them. I asked him to answer these 5 random questions. Here what he gave me. Enjoy!
P.S. I Literally asked him while he was driving to see me if he would let me take pictures of him. Of course he said "YES!"
1. Tell everyone a little bit about yourself.
My name is Rodger Glenn Hogan, the 3rd.
Just kidding! It’s actually Braxton Wade Hogan (the Only), but that would have been my name if my dad agreed to it (thanks for giving me my own identity, Dad! ^_^) Anyway… I am a Theatre Major, with concentrations in Musical Theatre and Dance, at Northwestern State University (NSU) in Natchitoches, LA. My biggest passion in life is music, with finding a way to get stuff done without actually having to do any sort of work being a close second. I live to serve others and my heart is really in helping anyone else out in any way that I can. Also, I own a hedgehog named Rachmaninoff (Rachy for short) and he literally hates me.
2. Name 5 of your favorite things.
Five of my favorite things would have to be (in no particular order): the way that Autumn makes me feel cozy and at home, any and all things Harry Potter, music as a single entity, genuinely kind-hearted people (there aren’t many people like that left), and the feeling I get when I’m up on stage performing for people whom I’ve never met before. (Oh, and obviously Ms. Sarah Clarius, because who wouldn’t love her?!)
3. If you could have dinner with 4 people who would it be and why?
If I could choose any four people to have dinner with I would choose: someone from a third world environment, because I feel like seeing someone who has never had enough to eat experience real food for the first time would be an amazing experience that would touch me on a deep spiritual and emotional level; Robin Williams, because that man was a comedy genius and had a heart of gold, it was a tragedy to see him go so soon; Neil Patrick Harris, mainly to pick his brain about his success in almost every performance based artistic job possible and get as many tips as I possibly can on how to succeed; and myself from high school, because I would want that scared, lonely, depressed kid that I was to see how far we’ve come, see that it’s okay to be happy and to love yourself, that no one controls your life but you, however having people there along the way to keep you going is very important as well.
4. Name 3 people that inspire you and why.
Three people who inspire me are (no matter how cliché they might be): my mother, because she has gone through a lot of crap over the years to make sure that me and my two sisters have great lives, there were times in our early life when we weren’t sure if we were going to eat that night and I admire her perseverance through every little twist and turn life has thrown at her (love you mom!); Lady Gaga, for showing the world that just because you do upbeat weird pop doesn’t me you can’t sing just as good as the rest of them if not better, I used to hate her, but now I have so much respect for what she stands for and how she just wants everyone to be okay with being weird and different because that’s what makes us human; and lastly, but certainly not least…ly… is the composer Jason Robert Brown for writing music that has done everything from get me dancing to lay out ugly crying on my bed, his melodies are gorgeous and his lyrics are beyond compare, the man has a way of just cutting you to the very core.
5. Are you a glass half empty person or half full?
This is a very tough question to answer. Mainly because I’m not entirely sure which I would be considered. I have found in the past that I used to be a glass half empty person all the way, but here in recent days it seems that the glass is slowly shifting to half full. Life is really all about perspective after all and you have to appreciate what you’ve got when you have it. Whether it’s a harsh breakup that tore you apart, but needed to happen so you could better understand how precious love is. Or the time you lost your job over something stupid so you can go out and find one that you’re much happier with. Anything that happens to you can be seen as a blessing or a curse. It’s up to you to decide how you view it and how you react to what life throws at you. Keep your head up, keep pushing forward, and know that the universe isn’t always out to get you, sometimes it just wants you to see things in a different light.
Thank you Braxton for being the first person to answer my random questions. I enjoyed it immensely! Your answers were thought provoking and real! Stay tuned for more questions from other real and fascinating people.
